The Wyoming Division of Transportation (WYDOT) is planning to open two new truck parking amenities this September alongside the I-80 hall within the Laramie space.
On September 20, 2023, WYDOT will maintain the grand opening ceremony for the Quealy Dome truck parking zone positioned on I-80 at mile marker 290 and the Fort Steele Relaxation Space positioned on I-80 at mile marker 228.
Each amenities could have about 100 truck parking areas accessible, creating almost 200 new truck parking areas alongside I-80.
The truck parking amenities have been created as a part of the bigger Interstate 80 Winter Freight/BUILD mission to create extra areas for industrial drivers to attend out unhealthy climate and closures in the course of the winter.
“If climate situations are poor or I-80 is closed, the brand new truck parking will present extra choices for truck drivers to park safely whereas they look ahead to situations to enhance,” mentioned Tim Morton, WYDOT District 1 Development engineer, when the mission was introduced.
Additionally a part of the soon-to-be accomplished Interstate 80 Winter Freight/BUILD mission are new truck climbing lanes positioned at Halleck Ridge, between mile markers 250.5-252.5 within the eastbound lanes, and at Cooper Cove, between mile markers 279.5-281.5 within the westbound lanes.
Work on the $34 million Interstate 80 Winter Freight/BUILD mission started in fall 2020.
