Werner Strengthens Logistics Arm With Acquisition – Fleet Administration
Werner Enterprises introduced that it’s strengthening its brokerage capabilities with the acquisition of ReedTMS.
The Omaha, Nebraska-based service stated it had closed on the acquisition of 100% of the inventory of Reed Transport Providers Inc. and RTS-TMS, Inc., doing enterprise as ReedTMS Logistics.
ReedTMS, based in 1996 and primarily based in Tampa, Florida, is an asset-light logistics supplier and truckload service that provides a set of freight brokerage and truckload options.
The acquisition “additional strengthens our freight brokerage capabilities,” stated Derek Leathers, Werner chairman, president and CEO. “ReedTMS will elevate our logistics portfolio with new clients, by increasing and diversifying our business verticals.”
ReedTMS had revenues of $372 million for the 12 months ended Sept. 30, 2022, 90% freight brokerage and 10% trucking. It has greater than 800 clients, with two-thirds of revenues within the meals and beverage industries and minimal buyer overlap with Werner. It has an intensive freight brokerage community with 19,000 energetic carriers and 70,000 permitted carriers
ReedTMS will function as a standalone enterprise unit inside Werner. Its freight brokerage monetary outcomes shall be reported within the Werner Logistics section and ReedTMS’ truckload monetary outcomes shall be reported within the Devoted enterprise unit in Werner’s Truckload Transportation Providers section
