Trucker charged when officers at U.S.-Mexico border discover over $10 million of cocaine

A truck driver was charged final week when he was discovered to be in possession of over 1,200 kilos of cocaine valued at greater than $10 million when crossing the border from Mexico into Arizona.

On Oct. 13, Oswaldo Lopez-Escobar, was charged following an Oct. 5, criticism for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. 

The criticism alleges that, on Oct. 4, Lopez-Escobar, was driving a semi-truck and utilized for admission into the U.S. from Mexico on the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona. Throughout a customs inspection of the car, officers with the Customs and Border Safety company discovered 155 packages of cocaine hid within the ground of the trailer. The packages had a complete weight of about 1294.2 kilos, with an estimated worth of between $10.7 and $12.5 million.

A conviction for possession with intent to distribute cocaine carries a most penalty of as much as life in jail with a compulsory minimal time period of 10 years in jail, a high-quality of $10,000,000, or each; and a time period of between 5 years and lifelong supervised launch.

America Lawyer’s Workplace, District of Arizona, Tucson, is dealing with the prosecution.
