Rookie Texas sheriff’s deputy dies after failing to yield to huge rig

This week, a Shelby County Sheriff’s Workplace (SCSO) deputy was killed on his second day on the job after he reportedly did not yield to a tractor trailer.

The crash occurred round 7:30 a.m. on August 29 on the intersection of State Freeway 103 and State Freeway 147 in Texas.

Authorities say {that a} 2014 Peterbilt truck was westbound on SH 103.

On the similar time, SCSO Deputy Matthew Pierson was in a marked patrol automobile touring north on SH 147 when he “did not yield to the truck tractor, putting the trailer portion of it.”

Pierson didn’t survive the collision.

Truck driver William Lyons, 54, was not harm.

In line with the Etoile Volunteer Fireplace Division, Pierson was killed on his “second day of labor” for the SCSO.

The investigation is ongoing.

Pierson beforehand labored as a Public Data Officer and firefighter with the Etoile Volunteer Fireplace Division.
