Pennsylvania Passes Automobile Snow Elimination Regulation – Drivers



The regulation received’t apply to autos en path to a facility to take away the snow/ice.

Pennsylvania has a handed a regulation requiring drivers to take away gathered snow and ice from their autos, a regulation that can affect truckers.

The regulation requires drivers to “make an inexpensive effort” to take away snow and ice from the hood, truck and roof of autos inside 24 hours after the snow stops falling below penalty. Penalties vary from $50 per offense to $1,000 if the snow/ice has dislodged and causes loss of life or critical bodily hurt.

The regulation received’t apply to autos en path to a facility to take away the snow/ice, if elimination would require violation of office security legal guidelines, or if it might be risk to the well being or security of the driving force.

Impression to Truckers

Doug Marcello, shareholder in trucking and business transportation at Saxton & Stump, wrote that when vans on the highway are caught in a snow there isn’t a rapid strategy to safely do it, citing an ATRI examine.

Related legal guidelines have been in place earlier than in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut, amongst others.
