“Officer instinct” results in discovery of 1 ton of meth in tractor trailer

Greater than $4 million value of meth was found inside a tractor trailer crossing into California final week. 

The incident occurred on June eighth on the border checkpoint in Calexico, California. 

In accordance with Patch Information, U.S. Customs and Border Safety officers had been conducting a routine inspection on a tractor trailer when their “officer instinct” prompted them to carry over the narcotics detector canine. The canine then alerted to the presence of narcotics, and officers discovered 148 packages of methamphetamine hidden within the flooring and ceiling of the trailer. 

The methamphetamine weighed in at over 2,000 kilos and had an estimated avenue worth of about $4.3 million. 

“By combining officer instinct and using superior know-how, officers had been in a position to make a notable discovery inside a cargo of produce. Wonderful work by our CBP Officers,” mentioned Roque Caza, Calexico Space Port Director.
