‘Large quantity’ — $7.4 million in meth seized from semi’s cargo of charcoal

U.S. Customs and Border Safety (CBP) brokers lately seized greater than 800 kilos of methamphetamine from a tractor trailer at a Texas border crossing.

The drug seizure occurred on March 24, 2023, on the Pharr Worldwide Bridge cargo facility situated in Pharr, Texas.

CBP officers encountered a tractor trailer hauling a cargo of charcoal that was getting into the U.S. from Mexico.

The truck was referred for screening by a non-intrusive imaging system and a canine unit.

When officers bodily inspected the automobile, they found 362 packages weighing a complete of 833.34 kilos of alleged methamphetamine hid throughout the tractor trailer.

The estimated road worth of the seized medication is $7,400,000.

The medication, tractor, and trailer had been seized by CBP.

The case was handed over to Homeland Safety Investigations for prison investigation.

“This huge quantity of methamphetamine was intercepted due to our CBP officers who used all of our obtainable instruments and sources to cease this smuggling try,” stated Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
