Illinois troopers uncover over 200 kilos of cocaine throughout routine CMV inspection

Two males had been arrested on drug trafficking costs after the Illinois State Police (ISP) found a considerable amount of medication throughout a roadside inspection.

On August 15, 2023, an ISP trooper stopped a tractor trailer on I-55 close to Springfield for a routine inspection, in response to WMAY.

The 2 males contained in the truck, David Dowling-Chacon, 41, and Luis Dukes-Acosta, 38, each California residents, instructed the trooper that they had been on the best way to Chicago to select up a load.

The trooper turned suspicious and police obtained permission to look the car. Throughout the search, police found roughly 227 kilos of suspected cocaine.

Dowling-Chacon and Dukes-Acosta had been arrested on a cost of possession with intent to distribute 5 kilograms of extra of cocaine. If convicted, the cost carries a compulsory minimal sentence of 10 years in jail as much as the potential of life in jail.

The Drug Enforcement Administration assisted within the investigation, together with the Springfield Police Division, Jacksonville Police Division, and the Logan County Sheriff’s Workplace.
