A Louisiana State Police (LSP) trooper is being hailed as a hero for the extraordinary measures he took to avoid wasting the lifetime of a semi truck driver who suffered a medical emergency.
The incident occurred on June 5, 2023, in Baton Rouge.
A truck pushed by Thomas Taylor was stopped on US 61 close to Thomas Highway for a security inspection.
LSP Sgt. Trey Bellue was inside his cruiser filling out paperwork when he observed Taylor “fall head-first from the driving force’s seat of his 18-wheeler to the bottom.”
When Sgt. Bellue checked on Taylor, he was bleeding profusely from a head wound and was not aware.
After calling for medical help, Sgt. Bellue started performing CPR on Taylor. He continued for 17 minutes, “stopping solely briefly when a passing civilian provided to step in and help.”
EMS arrived and had been in a position to restore Taylor’s heartbeat.
“Thanks Sgt. Bellue in your fast response and dedication to giving it your all. We’re comfortable to report that Sgt. Bellue was in a position to go to with Mr. Taylor and his household within the hospital and he’s on the highway to restoration!” LSP stated.
