3,175 kilos of marijuana discovered hid in truck’s load of tires at Detroit border crossing

 U.S. Customs and Border Safety (CBP) officers in Detroit, Michigan, not too long ago seized 1000’s of kilos of marijuana from a tractor trailer hauling a load of tires.

The drug seizure occurred on April 20, 2023, on the Fort Avenue Cargo Facility.

CBP officers referred an inbound tractor trailer hauling a cargo of tires for added screening.

Throughout a bodily inspection of the truck’s cargo, officers discovered  a number of packages of marijuana hid contained in the tires amongst brown packing paper and rubbish baggage.

A complete of three,175 kilos of marijuana was seized by CBP, along with the truck and trailer.

“The CBP officers in Detroit proceed to work diligently—day and evening—to perform our border safety mission with the intention to defend our nation and the communities we serve,” stated Port Director Devin Chamberlain. “This success is a testomony to their laborious work and dedication.”

CBP reminds the general public that “marijuana stays a Schedule I managed substance within the U.S., subsequently importation is prohibited and opposite to federal regulation.”
